Since 1979, the Ronald McDonald House of the Twin Cities has been a home-away-from-home for families who have children with cancer or another life threatening illness who must travel to area hospitals for urgently needed medical care. The purpose of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest has grown and expanded and now includes:
Each program serves a specific aspect of our mission which creates, finds and supports programs that provide a caring community for families with seriously ill children while increasing children’s access to health care services. Through these core programs we support thousands of families per year, offering stability, resources and community when it’s needed the most.
Beyond providing a simple place to rest, we create a community of support and encouragement to strengthen families during their time of crisis.
Our greatest reward comes in helping families find a common bond with others facing similar circumstances when they are most needed – and in helping make it possible for children to gain access to needed health care services.

Pop tab collecting is an important fundraising effort for the Ronald McDonald House. Since 1987, the Pop Tab Program has raised nearly $1 million dollars toward their operating budget and helped defer the cost for families staying here. Pop tabs bring approximately $35,000 per year to the House.
The Pop Tab Program is a great way to support the Ronald McDonald House. Drop your Pop Tabs off at Prairie Lights. We have a collection bin.
